LEADERS ARE MADE IN LONELINESS

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “GREAT MEN ARE GROOMED IN THE CLOSET”

Memory Verse: “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone”. Matthew 14:23.

Loneliness sometimes is not a curse but a call. A place of loneliness is a place of reflections, repackaging, learning and training. It is an avenue whereby God reaches out to some people with his new ideas and instructions. Have you wondered where leaders of men receive their own training? If you look through the scripture, you will discover that most leaders received their trainings in the wilderness – a place of loneliness, quietness; thereafter they came out to display their leadership traits.

For instance, Jesus was alone in the wilderness in fasting and prayers for forty days and forty nights. David was left alone in the wilderness in fasting and prayers for forty days and forty nights. Moses was alone in the desert when he saw the bush that was burning but never consumed and many others like that.

Great men are groomed in the closet, where their mind will be shut against the distractive activities in the world and be open to God. Habakkuk says, ‘I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will [pullquote]Great men are groomed in the closet, where their mind will be shut against the distractive activities in the world and be open to God[/pullquote]say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint’ Habakkuk 2:1. Are you currently going through a lonely path? Be patient God may be trying to make something out of your nothing.

Asking you to go the extra mile which others around you are neither ready nor willing to go through is to prepare you as a leader among them. ‘For everyone who has been given much, and much will be demanded’ Luke 12:48.
Are you a leader where you are? This should not be strange to you. For you to sustain your effectiveness, you must personally and constantly observe some moments of quietness, retreat, prayers and so on. Leaders don’t wait for others but they set example for others to follow.

God’s presence will not leave you. You will never know dryness. It is well!
