One of the definitions of financial discipline is to deny oneself of some luxuries of life temporarily or to endure hardship for a while in order to realize a particular goal or execute a capital project. Nothing good comes so easy. Whenever there is a capital project to be executed, or whenever your mind is made up to develop a robust financial future, some needs will naturally spring up competing with that major goal for your attention and meager resources. This is exactly where you need a sense of prudence, financial discipline and ability to prioritize. One of the proofs that God’s spirit is in you is ability to control your appetite, taste and your spending. But the fruit of the spirit is love… and self control’ (Galatians 5:22-23).
The secret of financial success is to spend what you have left after saving instead of saving what is left after spending. Reckless spending jeopardizes savings and investment. It cripples one’s ability to carry out capital projects like building a house, acquiring landed properties among others. If I may ask you, has your building project that has supposed to [pullquote]Nothing good comes so easy. Has the university education you had supposed to have acquired not been worn as expensive clothes and jewelries? Some comforts need to be delayed if you want to amount to anything significant financially.
Stop buying things on impulse. Spend within your budget and means. Avoid wasteful spending in all ramifications. Avoid debt as much as possible because debt strangulates financial destiny. Finally, you may need to bring yourself down temporarily from your present level of comfort. You won’t fail in destiny. It is well!

PROPHETIC PRAYERS
- Oh Lord, deliver my destiny from financial strangulation.
- Deliver me from the habit of wasteful spending; grant me a sense of prudence.
- Grant me grace now to make some adjustments that will give my life financial significance.
- Today, my financial life shall experience a positive turnaround in Jesus name.
