QUOTE OF THE DAY: “EXCELLENCE MEASURES US AGAINST OUR OWN POTENTIAL”
Memory Verse: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”
You are not making the most of your potential when the standard set for you by others are higher than the ones you set for yourself. Success bases your worth on a comparison with others; excellence measures you against your own potential. Success grants its rewards to the few but it’s the dream of multitudes. Excellence is available to all living beings, but it’s accepted only by few.
You are not yet at the peak of your performance, neither can you possibly exhaust tapping into or improving on yourself. This is exactly what Apostle Paul was trying to emphasize before the Philippians in Philippians 3:12-14. ‘Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me’. You are not making the most of your potential when the standards set for you by others are higher than the ones you set for yourself.

So, neither your critics nor your competitors should determine the standards you set for yourself. There are things you could do to improve on your levels of performance and knowledge.
First, always read more about those things relevant to your field. This will update your knowledge and give you an advantage over those who know less than you do. Second, always have a cause greater than yourself. Pursue tasks greater than your present level. This will provoke creative and innovative thoughts; it will challenge your sense of perception and bring out the best in you.
Finally, a cause greater than you will help you focus your energies and keep you going when the odds are stacked against you. Remember, you are made for a mission. God bless you!
