QUOTE OF THE DAY: “WHAT WE DO OR NEGLECT TO DO ALWAYS CATCHES UP WITH US”
Memory Verse: “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!” Proverbs 6:6.
To take initiative means to take action or steps towards solving a problem that might occur in the nearest future without waiting for instruction or command. If you have to wait for someone to instruct, cajole or force you to doing certain things in any organization or your own private life, you are not any better than a wheelbarrow that goes no further than it is pushed.
Solomon writes: ‘look at a ant… nothing has to tell it what to do. All summer it stores up food… So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing? How long before you get out of bed? A nap here, a nap there, a day off there, sit back, take it easy do you know what comes next? …A dirty-poor life, poverty (Poverbs 6:6-11). Anytime you forget what you should remember, anytime you fail to take certain steps or action as at when due, something suffers, something dies, and something will refuse to happen. However, by and large, someday it will catch up with you.
Are you not part of those who are waiting for someone to come along and tell them what to do next? If you are to wait for others to motivate you, what happens when ‘others’ do not show up? You need a better understanding than this. Taking initiative closes [pullquote] ‘look at a ant… nothing has to tell it what to do…[/pullquote]the door to fears. It opens the door to opportunity. Is there a problem you should solve? Is there a decision you should make? Is there a project you should start? Is there a goal you should be setting or striving towards? Are there steps you can take now to move your organization forward? It is better to be 80% sure, and start, than to wait until you are 100% sure, because by then the opportunity may have passed you by. Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.
Finally, schedule a specific time for doing what you do not like to do or fear to do, and each time you follow through and do it, it will get easier and you will get better at it. Through you, God will do great and mighty things. You are declared winner in all respect. You are blessed!
