QUOTE OF THE DAY: “THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE YOUR WEAKNESS IS TO WORK WITH THOSE WHO HAVE STRENGTH IN THOSE AREAS”

Memory Verse: “I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will have nothing to do with us”. 3 John 9.

What is ‘Diotrephes spirit’? According to 3 John verses 9-10, it is the spirit that never wants to work with others except it is allowed to lead. It always wants to be first or seen. It is the spirit behind malicious gossip in any organization. Diotrephes was a member of the church to whom John addressed his letter. Unfortunately, he embodied all the vices highlighted above. Hence, John having noticed him never wanted him in his team anymore. You may be asking; what did Diotrephes really want? – Control!

He was not service – driven, he was ego-driven, he was afraid to have anyone challenge him. He never wanted a team, just a supporting cast. The fact is it takes a team to fulfill a dream; just as it takes a battalion to confront an army of opponents on a battle field. Do you find it difficult to work together harmoniously with people? Do you always resist every attempt by people to monitor, investigate or challenge your activities? If your answer is yes, then you have a problem. People who are afraid to trust other end up not being trusted. There is a level of success they never get beyond because they cannot work with anybody.

They stay weak in certain areas: they cannot reach for the strength in others because they believe others are only out for what they can get. To be a-lone ranger and unaccountable is to wallow in mistakes, crawl in destiny, scuttle your dream and die in your weakness. There is a limit to how far your dimes-worth knowledge can carry you.

Go to God in prayers. Seek for counsel from those who are more knowledgeable than you do. Remember, the fastest way up is the way of service to God and humanity. New doors will be opened for you today. You will not lack help. Go, make corrections where necessary.

• As I step out today, let my steps be ordered and guided into surplus and breakthroughs.
