QUOTE OF THE DAY: “LIVING WITHOUT RESTRAINT IS LIKE DRIVING A CAR WITHOUT BRAKE”
Memory Verse: “Everything is permissible for me”-but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”-but I will not be mastered by anything”. 1 Corinthians 6:12.
Ability to restrain ourselves or exhibit self-control is a proof according to the scripture that God’s Spirit lives within us. ‘But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control…’ (Galatians 5:22-23). Living without restraint is like removing the brake from your car. It may be exciting for a while, but inevitably you will pay dearly for such a ride. Take away the brake, or throw caution to the wind, and your life, just like your car, is transformed into an unguided missile headed for disaster. Take for instance, a child left to himself/herself without proper monitoring will no doubt ruin himself/herself someday.
Naturally, human beings could be funny, wild, destructive and uncontrollable and I guess this is the reason laws, decrees [pullquote]It is impossible to live a lifestyle of moral purity without dealing with some practical facts related to our flesh-and-blood appetites that constantly crave satisfaction[/pullquote]and code of conducts and punitive measures for violators are put in place at every level of government, and in organizations to curb human excesses and regulate activities in order to create sanity and orderliness. As it is in the physical, so it is in the spiritual.
It is impossible to live a lifestyle of moral purity without dealing with some practical facts related to our flesh-and-blood appetites that constantly crave satisfaction. It is not that your body is evil; it is just that it possesses a number of appetites that are always ready to respond to the surrounding stimuli. Your body has the tendency to lead you off-course, if you are in the habit of gratifying its cravings all the time, it has grave consequences.
You can put a check on yourself: run from all appearances of evil. Never fuel your weak points. You are fueling it by exposing your body to temptations. Resolve to be obedient to God’s instructions in whatever circumstances. Finally, always consider the effect of your action on others before you take it. Today, God will bestow honour on you. You are divinely exempted from shame and ridicule. Enjoy your day!
