QUOTE OF THE DAY: “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IN THE ATMOSPHERE OF LOVE”

Memory Verse: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”. John 13:35.

It is easy to love God because of everything He’s done for us, but it’s harder when it comes to loving those we have no choice but to live with. A respected Bible teacher once said; ‘if there is anything that would keep me away from Christ if I was lost…it would be the attitude of Christians towards one another’. He further said, ‘when I was a kid and an argument broke out, my dad used to say, we have a few differences inside these walls but remember, we are family. If your brother or sister needs you…take care of them… love them.

Everything we need to know can be found in these two verses, ‘do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself – Philippians 2:3-4. Someone rightly said; ‘in unity we stand, but in division we fall’. However, do not forget that there can’t be unity where brotherly love is lacking because love is the seed that germinates into unity.

Before Andrew Jackson became president of the United States, he was a general in the Tennessee Militia. During the War of 1812 his troops were fighting and bickering among themselves so he called them together and said, ‘Gentlemen, let’s remember the enemy is over there! The first step Satan always takes to split a home, an organization or even a religious gathering among others is to disunite them.

[pullquote]However, do not forget that there can’t be unity where brotherly love is lacking because love is the seed that germinates into unity.[/pullquote] Obviously, it is difficult or out-rightly impossible for the enemy to gain access into an atmosphere of true love. But where love is removed, God quickly steps aside, Satan takes over and consequently, progress becomes hampered, creativity dies and everybody becomes vulnerable.

Were it not for God’s supremacy and sovereignty, it was initially difficult for the enemies to stop the united, focused and desperate builders of the Tower of Babel. Attacks and opposing forces from outside have little or no effect on a united body. Rather, they get stronger. But where there is bickering, divisions and animosity, external aggression takes over and overcome. Always think about the other person’s interest. This is the overriding principle, yet how many adult problems could be solved if this principle was the driving force in our relationships? There is no other way to progress and peace except we are of one heart and mind. Have a fruitful day!

PROPHETIC PRAYERS

• Heavenly Father, make it easy for me to love people around me.
• Let the seeds of hatred and disunity die now in Jesus name.
• By your power, let the atmosphere of love in every home and society be sustained.
• As a church, as a people, and as a nation, bind us together with a cord unbreakable.
